‘rumbling like thunder over the prairie,
great herds of abundance, sharing with man,
i need your knowledge to meet life’s challenges,
to survive and move on with my plans.’

from cave drawings in spain to north american indians the bison has represented characteristics that we feel reflect who we are and what we aspire to. bison attributes include protection, earthiness, creativity, feminine courage, abundance, knowledge, generosity, hospitality, sharing work, strength, challenge, survival, giving for the greater good, formulating beneficial plans.

much of the early thinking and dreaming about bisons centred around their abundance and what that abundance offered - survival! food aplenty and pelts to protect us from the elements. their tenacious behaviour led to later thinking relating to their general characteristics, all of which resonate with our own existence.
